This Girl Can celebrates active women who are doing their thing no matter how well they do it. Together we have helped young women from Bristol to overcome the fear of learning a new sport, enabling them to see the potential in their own abilities.
Through our First Tracks Programme our Bristol young women faced a number of new challenges, which they tackled with energy, perseverance, determination and a lot of laughter. They worked with instructors on the slope to master the basics of skiing or snowboarding, including balance, coordination and controlling their speed and direction when coming down the slopes. Furthermore, the young women spent time in the classroom positively discussing the skills they were learning on the slope while making friends with young people from different neighbourhoods.
The young women from Full Circle Docklands, Catch 22/Include, The Princes Trust Fairbridge Bristol Programme and Tomorrows People youth projects showed determination, perseverance, self-belief and excitement by the end of the 2 day programme, highlighting just how valuable snowsports are as a youth development tool. We’re all so proud of how much they achieved!
Big thank you to This Girl Can and Bristol Council for your support, lets get more young women into snowsports!
