Are you a young person who needs help? Text BREATHE to 85258 for free and confidential support.
We are delighted to announce that we have partnered with the charity Shout to launch a text support service for young people as part of our Stop.Breathe.Think campaign. Now young people can text BREATHE to 85258 to access vital help whenever they need it.
A free and confidential service, trained volunteers take the conversations with young people who text in, listening and supporting them. Clinical supervisors oversee the volunteers’ conversations and give real-time advice if needed. Clinical supervisors can escalate texters to the emergency services via a direct line if they are deemed at imminent risk.
Volunteers refer young people to the Stop.Breathe.Think website where they can request our counselling sessions if needed.
What makes our support different?
– The text service is available 24/7.
– Unlike many other free counselling services, there are no waiting times and the young person and/or the person referring the young person is contacted within 24 hours.
– We have a team of 30 counsellors working with us who specialise in different issues. So, a young person can get the right targeted and specialised support from the start.
– Counselling support can take place virtually, with options for face to face contact post-Covid.
Our counselling services are delivered by our partner JHD Counselling. From the moment we met the Founder, Carol, and all the team at JHD, we knew they were the right partner for this project – they were so passionate about the Stop.Breathe.Think initiative and keen to be a part of it by delivering high quality and tailored counselling services to young people.
We have been providing mental health support to young people on our programmes since 2017 and we’re now delighted to make this additional support available to all young people, at a time when they need it the most.
Together with Shout and JHD, we want as many young people as possible to access this service and we’re asking all our partners and supporters to share information about our service far wide. Thank you.
