Young people volunteer at Aravis Capital Golf Day

Lamar, James, Dani and Alice from Snow Camp London swapped skis for golf clubs at our annual Aravis Capital Golf Day.

Taking on the role of ‘caddies extraordinaire’, our young people helped to raise funds for the charity by carrying golf bags alongside talking about the impact Snow Camp has had on their lives.

Dani said: “I had a great day volunteering at the Aravis Capital Golf Day. I have never been to a golf course, and I loved finding out more about the sport and learning how an event like this is organised. It was nice to meet some of the charity’s supporters too, people from completely different walks of life.”

Aravis Capital Golf Day

Alongside caddying, James took on the role of Social Media Manager for the day. James, who has a passion for videography, documented the day on our Instagram stories (check out our events highlight here!).

James said: “It was fantastic to get some work experience managing a business social media account. Alongside using my Snowsport England instructor qualification to volunteer on Snow Camp courses, I want to gain experience in the creative industries, so it’s great I can do both with the charity!”

Our Wellbeing Manager Paige Bell was also on hand to provide breathing exercises to players on hole 1, a new experience for many!

Paige said: “In previous jobs, I have delivered mindfulness workshops to corporate clients, but never on a golf course! Also, I’m normally at the Snow Centre working with our young people, so this was a complete change! It was so nice to meet so many of the charity’s supporters and in such a beautiful setting. Mental health is at the heart of the charity’s work, and I was delighted to showcase a little bit of what we do at this event.”

Jenny Jones Golf Day

It was fantastic to have Patron Jenny Jones supporting the event. Our young people loved spending time with a snowboarding Olympic Bronze medallist. Jenny started snowboarding aged 17 at her local dry slope, her story of success is a source of inspiration to our young people.

The event raised a fantastic £15,000. Read more about the day here.

Thank you to Lamar, Dani, James and Alice for all your support.
