20 teams, 5 Indoor Snow Centres, 1 epic day!

The Snow-Camp Rally is back, and this year it’s going to be bigger & better than ever! Starting at The Snow Centre Hemel Hempstead, teams of 4 must ski/board as many runs as possible across 5 of the UK’s indoor snow centres before claiming themselves victorious and celebrating the day’s achievements at The SnowDome Tamworth.

All about the Snow-Camp Rally 2017

The event (which last ran in 2013 and raised over £7,500 towards Snow-Camps work) is scheduled for Friday 10th of November 2017 and once again aims to generate significant funds towards Snow-Camp’s expansion and work with inner-city young people.

Kicking off from The Snow Centre Hemel Hempstead, each team of 4 must ride as many runs as possible across the countries 5 indoor snow centres in under 12 hours, finishing at the Tamworth Snowdome to enjoy a well-earned drink! Each slope must be ridden in the prescribed order and can only be ridden during an agreed time slot at each slope. Upon finishing the Rally, ski runs will be tallied up before the awards are given out and we celebrate the days’ achievements in the bar!

With thanks to the in-kind support of the 5 partner ski slopes, this event is open to any keen skiers or boarders who wants to take on the challenge! With almost 350 miles of tarmac standing in your way, 5 slopes to ride in total and 30 minutes maximum at each slope to ride as many runs as possible, this is no easy challenge!

When and where?

The challenge will begin at The Snow Centre Hemel Hempstead. Teams will gather around 7:45am to register, receive their passes and get ready to begin their challenge.

At 8.30am sharp, teams take the first lifts of the day at The Snow Centre Hemel Hempstead and complete their first slope session before beginning their epic road trip around each snow centre in the following order and in the following proposed time slots:

  1. 08.30 – 09.00 The Snow Centre Hemel Hempstead (1hr onward drive approx.)
  2. 10.00 – 10.30 Sno!Zone, Milton Keynes (2hr 45m onward drive approx.)
  3. 13.15 -13.45 Sno!Zone, Castleford (1hr 15m onward drive approx.)
  4. 15.00 – 15.30 Chillfactore, Manchester (2hr onward drive approx.)
  5. 17.30 – 18.00 The SnowDome, Tamworth

Start and finish times are scheduled for the above time-slots however may be slightly adjusted on the day (depending on traffic delays etc) at the discretion of each slope and must be adhered to. Fingers crossed this won’t happen!

If all goes well, teams will arrive at Tamworth at the anticipated time of 5.30pm and finishing at 6pm which marks the end of the event. Once the challenge is completed, teams can look forward to claiming themselves victorious whilst results are sorted out, and then its presentations and awards before celebrations in the bar commence!

What are the registration costs and fundraising targets?

Teams complete a simple registration form to enter and pay a non-refundable deposit of just £100 (£25pp) to Snow-Camp to complete the registration process.

Each team then commits to raise £400 (£100pp) in sponsorship to support Snow-Camp’s work with inner-city young people.

Once registered, the Snow-Camp team will set your team up with a dedicated online fundraising page and providing links to send out to friends, family and colleagues. With an overall event fundraising target of £20,000, and by raising awareness about Snow-Camp’s work simply by being involved, this will have a huge impact on Snow-Camp’s work in 2017!

Teams receive their Rally Pack on the morning of the event containing passes which entitle them to enter the indoor slopes for free within the designated times at each venue.

The winners of the Snow-Camp Rally 2017 will be the team who ski / board the most runs collectively across the 5 snow centres. A foolproof system will be in place at each slope to record the exact number of runs each individual (and therefore team) rides at each slope. This will be entirely managed by Snow-Camp with a volunteer handing out a token for each completed run (per person) at each slope.

The winning teams will win a Snow-Camp trophy, as well as a top snowsports prize donated through sponsors. Loads of other prizes will also be on offer for the highest fundraisers, best fancy dress etc and every team who completes the Rally will be awarded medals for their achievement!

What’s not included?

Teams will need to supply their own transport, ski and snowboard equipment, boots and helmets, meals and beverages.

Is there any recommended accommodation before and after the rally?

If teams are looking to get accommodation prior to the Rally, there are a selection of Travelodge’s and Premier Inns in the local area of Hemel Hempstead. Likewise, there are a range of accommodation options located within a short distance from The SnowDome, Tamworth.

What about the after-party?

As soon as the challenge is complete, teams will enjoy some well-earned drinks, sharing of photos and awards etc. in a dedicated room at The SnowDome Tamworth. Exact plans to be confirmed nearer the time.

Anything else?

We want teams to all arrive in one piece so no breaking the speed limit! And sharing of driving is recommended. We expect teams to respect the slopes they are visiting as they are voluntarily participating in the event and generously enabling teams to ride for free as part of their ongoing support to Snow-Camp.

With 20 team places available, we expect this to be a sell-out event.
