Snow-Camp Charity at the Snow Centre

Snow-Camp are the UK’s only charity using a combination of snowsports, life-skills training and mental wellbeing support to help young people from inner-city communities. Working at the Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead, Snow-Camp also provide qualifications, work experience and volunteering opportunities to those who would never normally get the chance to access this industry.

Young people can gain an accredited Snow Life Award, ASDAN certificate in Sports and Fitness, Safeguarding and First Aid Certificates, BASI and Snowsport England instructor qualifications and an NVQ in Activity Leadership through our programmes, improving their CV noticeably.

Furthermore, for every hour on the slopes, the same amount of time is spent in our life-skills sessions which have been planned to help young people reflect upon the skills they are demonstrating whilst learning to ski or snowboard – perseverance, commitment, listening, patience and overcoming fear as well as learning how to respond to challenges, deal with peer pressure and setting goals for their future. All of which are essential skills young people need to deal with the problems they may face in their everyday lives. Young people also have access to bespoke mental health workshops and 1-1 counselling sessions, which are delivered by registered counsellors.

Young people can join our programmes at the Snow Centre through youth clubs and youth service providers in London. All young people must have no prior snowsports experience and be aged 13-21. There are no costs involved for the young people at all, we instead have agreements in place with the youth clubs.
