At Snow Camp, we’re thrilled to announce that we have been recognised as one of the very best SME Apprenticeship Employers in the UK for 2025 by RateMyApprenticeship.co.uk. Placing 15th out of the Top 50 SME employers, we’re not only among the top organisations for apprenticeships in the country, but we’re also the highest-ranking charity on this prestigious list.
This achievement is a huge testament to our award-winning apprenticeship programme and our commitment to helping young people build brighter futures through snow sports, life skills, and employability training.

So, what sets our apprenticeships apart? At Snow Camp, we do things differently. Young people join us not only to learn how to ski or snowboard but also to develop life skills, gain industry-recognised qualifications, and grow in confidence and resilience.
Our apprentices take part in an inspiring journey through our First Tracks, Graduate, Excel, Apprenticeship and Futures programmes. This progressive structure helps them grow step by step, with continuous support from our experienced youth workers, snowsports instructors and dedicated mentors.
As one of the UK’s top SME apprenticeship employers, we’re proud to be recognised for our holistic approach that puts young people’s wellbeing and personal growth at its heart.
Our MD, Lara Kinnear, expresses it perfectly:
“Since launching our apprenticeship programme in 2013, we’ve seen incredible impact over the past 12 years. We’re grateful to all our training providers and workplace partners who have made this success possible, helping young people gain qualifications and pathways into work and earning us recognition as one of the top SME Apprenticeship Employers.
Looking ahead in 2025, we’re excited to partner with Coach Core and SD Consultancy to welcome 15 new apprentices nationally. Together, we’re committed to creating opportunities for young people who have historically faced barriers and discrimination, helping them unlock their potential and build meaningful careers in the snowsports industry and beyond.”
Looking ahead in 2025, we’re excited to launch a new phase in our apprenticeship delivery through partnerships with Coach Core in England and SD Consultancy in Scotland.
Coach Core works with young people who traditionally may face barriers, discrimination, and a lack of opportunity. Their inclusive, impactful sports coaching apprenticeship equips young people with the skills and experience they need to thrive, both in the workplace and in life. Their values align powerfully with our mission, and together, we’re welcoming a new national cohort of 15 apprentices from July 2025.
In Scotland, we’re proud to continue our tailored delivery model through our partnership with SD Consultancy. This local collaboration ensures we provide a high-quality, regionally specific experience that meets the needs of young people across Scotland.
We’re incredibly grateful to all our training providers and workplace partners who have helped us reach this milestone and continue to play such a vital role in our journey.
In a challenging landscape where youth unemployment and skills gaps continue to rise, our place among the Top 50 SME Apprenticeship Employers 2025 is more than just an accolade. It’s a promise to young people that they’re joining a trusted and supportive employer.
Apprenticeships open doors to new opportunities, and having the reassurance that an employer is highly rated by other apprentices can make all the difference. We’re proud that our apprentices rate us so highly on platforms like RateMyApprenticeship.co.uk. Our apprenticeships are carefully designed to provide real-world skills and hands-on industry experience.
Snow Camp apprentices (16-21 years) work on all our youth programmes with our staff team, leading life-skills sessions in the classroom and out on the slope, they are the best role models to show new young people starting out what is possible with the charity.
Young people gain qualifications either a NVQ Level 2 Community Activator Coach qualification (England) or a SVQ Level 2 in Sports Coaching (Scotland). Along with BASI instructor qualifications learning to coach, deliver sessions and manage events, all while receiving wraparound mental health support and care.
Alongside practical training, apprentices also complete work placements with our industry partners and gain invaluable experience that boosts their employability. Many go on to work as qualified instructors, youth workers, or within the wider snowsports industry and some even return to Snow Camp as volunteers or mentors with our Youth Forum.
The real proof of our success lies in the incredible young people we work with. Take William Legge, known to many as Leggy. His journey beautifully illustrates how Snow Camp can transform a young person’s life. When Leggy first joined Snow Camp Midlands back in 2022, he was quiet, reserved, and unsure of what the future held for him. Stepping onto the slopes was his first real leap outside his comfort zone. But with each session, his confidence grew.
Through sheer determination and the encouragement of his peers and mentors, Leggy worked his way up to qualify as a BASI Level 1 and Adaptive Instructor, focusing on supporting snowboarders with disabilities. Today, Leggy is proudly employed at SnowDome Tamworth and was recently voted Employee of the Month. A testament to his passion, dedication, and the positive impact he has on everyone around him.
His story shows exactly what’s possible when young people have the chance to develop skills, gain qualifications, and build their self-belief in a supportive community.
