Youth Forum

Young people attending Snow Camp are invited to join the Youth Forum. Running in each Snow Camp region, the Youth Forum provide young people with volunteering and training opportunities.

About our Youth Forum

Through the Youth Forum there are opportunities to represent Snow Camp at annual industry shows and festivals, gain work experience in the mountains, work towards further qualifications and develop fundraising and small business ideas to support snowsport activities. In recent years, alongside volunteering on Snow Camp courses, our young people volunteered at the Banff Film Festival and gained work experience in Val Thorens with Hotel Le Val Thorens and in Courchevel with LeSki. We also helped several volunteers find employment in the industry.

The Forum is run entirely by its youth members, with staff and volunteers attending for support. Their meetings enable Snow Camp to keep in touch with the changing environment that young people face and what they want to achieve. We have a strong relationship with these young people, some of whom have been attending for over 5 years. Young people also have access to our mental wellbeing workshops and 1-1 wellbeing sessions.

During our last full year, our members carried out over 2,000 volunteer hours on our courses

Any young person who has attended our Excel course can join the Forum. Please speak to directly to the regional Programme Manager for updates on meetings and volunteering opportunities.

Thank you to Le Ski for giving me 2 weeks work experience in the mountains and showing me what it takes to be a seasonaire. My favourite role was chalet hosting and helping to cook meals for guests. Being out in the mountains improved my riding a lot and I’m now a better and more confident teacher because of it. I met many amazing people who very quickly became friends. Le Ski is like a family and they welcomed me with open arms.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to volunteer at the Delancey GB Snowsport Alpine Ski Championships. I really benefited from it! I gained skills in the racing department, and I now know how to marshall. My experience with the GB Snowsport team was amazing! They made me feel very welcome and were always there to help. It has made me realise that skiing is what I love and what I want to have a career in.

Through Snow Camp I have gained so many skills that have helped me find employment in the snowsports industry. Now I don't avoid my responsibilities and I love returning to Snow Camp each year as a volunteer, instructing the new young people joining the charity. I’ve really grown in confidence and I feel like I can take on any task in the future.
