Graduate

After completing First Tracks, young people can join Graduate where they will further develop their skills over 5 weekends throughout October, November and December. In our last programme year 244 young people joined Graduate.

About Graduate

Having experienced the thrill of snowsports for the first time on First Tracks, moving onto Graduate is the obvious next step for young people who are keen to continue with skiing or snowboarding. With 5 days on the snow, spread over a two month period, Graduate gives young people the opportunity to take their skiing and snowboarding to the next level. With a longer period of time on the slope, qualified instructors help young people progress week by week.

Group classroom sessions held before each slope lesson expose young people to the wider world of skiing and snowboarding, with talks each week from those involved across the ski industry from seasonaires, snowsports media, tour operators and athletes. Life skills remain a significant part of the course, as to complete it young people require commitment, dedication and focus – this is all positively discussed during the sessions.

Young people also take part in a mental wellbeing workshop with our Wellbeing Managers who are on hand to give advice and support to the young people throughout the course.

Young people receive an ASDAN Sports and Fitness certificate and by the end of the course they will have progressed significantly towards becoming more able and aware skiers and snowboarders. Our young people also continue their progression through the Snowsport England or Snowsport Scotland Snow Life Award system started on First Tracks.

At this point young people have the opportunity to progress on to our Excel course where they will train to become qualified instructors.

If you work with young people and they have completed our First Tracks course, please do get in touch with the Programme Manager in your area to discuss enrolling them on Graduate.
