Molly’s Blog | Working at the National Snow Show

Hi, I’m Molly and I am part of the Snow Camp Midland’s youth forum. A few weeks ago, I got an amazing opportunity (along with some of my other Snow Camp youth forum and apprentice friends) to go to the National Snow Show at the Birmingham NEC. The National Snow Show is an event that happens every year there is lots of different people there from the snowsports industry, and is organised by Raccoon Media.

It was such a great experience, the Saturday was amazing, I got to snowboard on a dry slope! It’s so different to the indoor slope I’m used to at Tamworth SnowDome, but it was a really nice experience although it was very tricky to snowboard on the dry slope. But my friend Courtney who is also a snowboarder tried skiing for the first time and she smashed it! We spoke to lots of people and even got to try lots of new things. I got lots of free stuff including pens and buffs. I also bought a hoodie and a hat.

Some of the guys on the Snow Camp stall said they really enjoyed working alongside Cormac and Lydia, and they really enjoyed the event. The youth forum had jobs like giving out magazines but also getting the opportunity to stand at the Snow Camp stall and speak to people about who we are and what we do. We met some very cool people including Eddie the Eagle and Jenny Jones. The apprentices were working behind the scenes with the people who organised the event.

Overall, I think everyone had a really great time and can’t wait to hopefully get the opportunity to go next year.

Many thanks to Raccoon Media for offering Snow Camp Midlands apprenticeship roles at the National Snow Show 2022, as well as their generous donation and helping us set up a stand this year.
