Youth Forum

Volunteering and work experience

Young people attending Snow-Camp are invited to join the Youth Forum. Along with our Apprenticeship Programme, the Forum ensures Snow-Camp is youth led by providing co-productive opportunities for young people to gain work experience alongside our Board of Trustees, staff and young people in each Snow-Camp region as volunteers.

There are opportunities to represent Snow-Camp at annual industry shows and festivals, gain work experience in the mountains, work towards further qualifications and develop fundraising and small business ideas to support snowsport activities. In the last year our young people have volunteered at the Telegraph Ski and Board Festival and Delancey British Alpine Ski Championships and gained work experience at Hotel Le Val Thorens in France.

The Forum is run entirely by its youth members, with staff and volunteers attending for support. Their meetings enable Snow-Camp to keep in touch with the changing environment that young people face and what they want to achieve. We have a strong relationship with these young people, some of whom have been attending for over 5 years. Furthermore, two members of the Youth Forum are democratically elected and voted by their peers to sit on Snow-Camp’s Board of Trustees as Youth Representatives.

In 2018/19 our Youth Forum members carried out more than 1950 volunteer hours on our programmes.
