Through the Youth Forum there are opportunities to represent Snow-Camp at annual industry shows and festivals, gain work experience in the mountains, work towards further qualifications and develop fundraising and small business ideas to support snowsport activities. In the last year, alongside volunteering on Snow-Camp programmes, our young people volunteered at the Telegraph Ski and Board Festival and the Banff Film Festival and gained work experience in Val Thorens with Hotel Le Val Thorens and in Courchevel with LeSki. We also helped several volunteers find employment in the industry.
The Forum is run entirely by its youth members, with staff and volunteers attending for support. Their meetings enable Snow-Camp to keep in touch with the changing environment that young people face and what they want to achieve. We have a strong relationship with these young people, some of whom have been attending for over 5 years. Young people also have access to our mental wellbeing workshops and 1-1 counselling sessions.
Last year our members carried out over 2000 volunteer hours on our programmes and we were awarded a Princess Royal Training Award by HRH Princess Anne for our Youth Forum and Apprenticeships Programmes.
Any young people attending Snow-Camp’s programme can join the Forum. Please speak to our Programme Manager for updates on meetings and volunteering opportunities.
