Le Ski Work Experience

This season our supporters, Le Ski, offered the incredible opportunity for one Snow Camp youth volunteer to head out to the French mountain resort of Courchevel, for an amazing two weeks work experience.

Snow Camp were delighted to be able to give this brilliant work experience opportunity with Le Ski to Jack, who has excelled on the slopes and in the classroom, leading both sessions and supporting our young people..

Read below as Jack describes travelling on his own for the first time and the memories he made during this unforgettable experience.

“Firstly, I’d like to start by saying a massive thank you to Le Ski for the amazing opportunity to spend two weeks out with them in France, showing me many aspects of being a seasonaire.

When I first got there, I was very nervous because it was my first time on a plane on my own and first time in another country on my own, but Le Ski made me feel at ease and the experience was incredible. I was also very nervous about sharing a room with someone I’ve never met, but I shouldn’t have worried. We had a lot of fun and my roommate also showed me around the resort and took me to the best runs on the mountain, I really appreciated it.

Jack Le Ski Work Experience

Le Ski showed me what it takes to be a chalet host, resort support and other areas such as admin and maintenance work. My favourite role was chalet hosting and making food I’ve never made before. It was amazing to hear the guest’s feedback, telling me that they loved my food. What a great feeling. As resort support, I learnt about making sure the chalets hosts had everything they needed to run their chalets and preparing the lift passes for the new guests every week.

While I was out in Courchevel, I met many amazing people who very quickly became friends. Le Ski is like a family and I felt like they welcomed me with open arms. Day to day life with them was never boring, there was always something exciting happening. I especially enjoyed everyone skiing and snowboarding together in a huge group, it was so much fun. It was great racing each other and going off-piste. This was the probably the most fun I’ve ever had on a snowboard. Being out on the mountain with the Le Ski team also improved my riding a lot, and I’m now a better and more confident teacher because of it.”
